Where spiders turn up
In East Lansing homes, spiders gather where it is quiet and where prey collects: basement corners, garage ceilings, window wells, eaves, and around exterior lights that draw insects at night. Most of what people find here are common house and cellar spiders that spin webs and wait, rather than anything dangerous.
Why you have them
Spiders go where the food is. A spider problem almost always means a supply of other insects, ants, flies, gnats, and the fall invaders, is nearby. That is why spider control and general pest control go together: cut the insects the spiders eat and the spiders have less reason to stay.
How spider control works
Treatment starts with a sweep of webs and egg sacs from the eaves, corners, and overhangs, then a treated barrier around the foundation and entry points, and knocking down the insect prey that draws them in. Reducing exterior lighting that attracts night insects and sealing gaps helps the treatment hold.
Call to connect with a local East Lansing exterminator to clear the webs and treat what is feeding them.
